Winnipeg Transit reveals 22 routes face possible cuts (December 1)

Winnipeg Transit has unveiled a list of of 22 routes that may see a service reduction in 2018 as part of plans to cut back on costs.


"After the completion of a service review and preliminary scheduling, the department will come forward with recommendations which outline where service will be rationalized," Winnipeg Transit says in its budget presentation.

Newcomer, Indigenous groups unite to oppose proposed Winnipeg Transit fare hike (November 29)

Groups opposed to 25-cent fare hike plan hold 1st news conference on Monday

"Winnipeg's newcomer and Indigenous communities are joining forces to oppose a proposed 25-cent increase to transit fares, warning the move would increase the barriers already faced by low-income members of both communities.

 

Several groups, including the Canadian Muslim Women's Institute, the Manitoba Association of Newcomer Serving Organizations (MANSO), Aboriginal Youth Opportunities and Functional Transit Winnipeg, held a news conference Monday morning to voice their concerns."

Every year the ATU International offers Post Secondary Scholarship towards post secondary education for their family members. Every year it's named in memory of a chosen individual and this year it's in memory of one of the greatest Canadians, Thomas Clement "Tommy" Douglas.

It's good to see that regardless of our City Councilors individual views. They are all trying to improve Winnipeg's Transit system for riders and Operator's alike. A new vision has been needed for awhile!

Transit Management Report on Safety Measures

All employee's have the Right To Refuse unsafe work.  To exercise your Right To Refuse you must notify a person in charge and give them the opportunity to fix the problem.

We want to make sure the Employer is taking care of you!

If you're an employee with Winnipeg Transit and you've been injured while working we need to hear from you. If you've been injured at work and are unsure if you should put in a claim. Take a few minutes to send an email to admin@atu1505.ca explaining what happened to you.
