Dear Sisters, Brothers, and Friends,
The University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA), an affiliate of the MFL, is holding a car / bike honkathon rally tomorrow (Tuesday, Oct. 20 at 1:00 PM) to put pressure on the University to agree to binding arbitration to resolve wage reopener negotiations.
You’ll recall that both the Manitoba Labour Board and the Court of Queen’s Bench found that the University / Pallister Government did not bargain fairly with UMFA in 2016, when the Government directed the university to take its wage offer off the table.
So far, the University has refused UMFA’s request for binding arbitration to settle current negotiations.
I ask that you join me in attending this physically distanced vehicle rally at the corner of Maclean Crescent and Service 1 Road S on the University of Manitoba Fort Garry campus – route map attached. The rally will start at 1 pm on Tuesday, October 20th.
Questions? Contact the UMFA office – 204.474.8272 / email@example.com
Let’s show our support for UMFA members and their Charter-protected right to free and fair collective bargaining. These hardworking Manitobans ensure that students at the University of Manitoba receive high-quality education, and they deserve a fair deal.
