About Us
Who We Are:
The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) 1505 represents over 1400 members in Manitoba who are employed with Winnipeg Transit and Brandon Transit.
Our membership includes Transit Bus Operators, Mechanics, Technicians, Bus Shelter Servicers, Painters, Tiremen, Welders, Upholsterers, Maintenance, Electrical, Clerical, and Support workers.
We have two (2) collective agreements with the City of Winnipeg and City of Brandon that we have negotiated in the best interests of our members and to better improve conditions for our riding public.
Our elected Local Officers and Executive Board are experienced in each of their respective fields, are well versed is labour education, health and safety, and the collective agreements. They are passionate about upholding workers’ rights and improving the working conditions of the members they represent.
What We Do:
ATU 1505 strongly advocates for better working conditions, wages, and hours for our membership, while lobbying for safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable transportation for all users of transit.
Our Affiliates:
We are affiliated with the Winnipeg Labour Council, the Manitoba Federation of Labour, and the Canadian Labour Congress, and are partners with the United Way Winnipeg. Together we form a strong voice to advocate for workers rights and interests.
Our Community Partnerships:
ATU 1505 is proud to have established relationships and partnerships with a variety of community organizations that focus on improving transit, climate action, and social and community wellness.
Our Headquarters:
ATU is an international union with over 200,000 members across Canada and the United States. Our national headquarters, ATU Canada, is located in Ontario and is the national voice for all 36 Canadian locals.
