In response to the announcement of the new community Transit Safety Team leader for Winnipeg Transit
WINNIPEG, September 25, 2023 – As a union representing the interests of transit workers, we understand the critical importance of a secure work environment. The introduction of a dedicated community Transit Safety Team and the appointment of Robert (Bob) Chrismas reflects a significant step forward in prioritizing the security of our transit system and a commitment to the well-being of both our workers and passengers.
We look forward to working collaboratively with the City of Winnipeg, and the Transit Safety Team lead Robert (Bob) Chrismas to implement effective security protocols that not only safeguard our transit employees, but also ensure a safe and comfortable commuting experience for all passengers.
In the coming weeks, we will be engaging in discussions with Robert (Bob) Chrismas to address any specific concerns or suggestions that our members may have regarding security measures. Our member input is invaluable in shaping policies that serve the best interests of our transit community.
Together, we will continue to strive for a transit system that operates efficiently, safely, and with the well-being of Winnipeg’s community in mind.
